Apex Legends Cheaters boost themselves on an empty ranked server

Apex Legends players discover that cheaters are using an empty ranked server to boost themselves to the coveted Predator Rank.

Cheating is essentially endemic in the gaming community, and Apex Legends is no exception, with players recently discovering that cheaters are using an effectively abandoned server in Bahrain to boost themselves. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but for those unfamiliar with the term, boosting is when players cheat and use fake methods to increase their levels or ranks in a game. To Apex Legendsthese players boost themselves into the upper echelons of the ranked system, including and up to Predator Rank.

GAMERANT’S VIDEO OF THE DAY

As many know, Apex Legends’ ranked system is not easy to climb or grind. It gets harder and more expensive (in terms of RP entry costs and rewards) as players climb through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Masters and Predator. The final tier, for example, represents the top 750 players on a given platform and is highly coveted as a result, and while some games struggle to break through to even gold or platinum, these cheaters basically shoot straight to the top.

As first reported by Dexerto, Bahrain has its own server inside Apex Legends, but due to its geographic location, players there migrate to more popular servers surrounding the region. This has left the Bahrain server almost empty except for the boosters who load into it, increase their kills and quickly rise through the ranked levels to Apex Legends. When video evidence of this was obtained, the boosters quickly left the match (as recovering RP via this method would be incredibly easy). It should be noted that there was a video of this on the Subreddit, but it has since been removed for violating community standards. In it, players could be seen increasing their kill count into the 30s, gaining thousands of RP in an instant.

What does this particular method of cheating do? Apex Legends worse is that there is little way for players to take action. In games like Apex Legends, bans often come as a result of reports, but if the entire server is made up of cheaters, it stands to reason that no reports will follow. Obviously, these players do not have the best intentions for this behavior, nor is it fair to those who work hard on the game.

After all, 30+ kills in one Apex Legends fighting is almost unheard of in society. Some top players can do it, but it depends on the lobby. For context, that Apex Legends Solo vs. Squad’s record for kills is 37, which is an incredible feat, and this new one broke the old record of 36. That record had stood since the first two weeks of Apex Legends‘ launch. It remains to be seen what happens from here, but one can expect Respawn to crack down on the cheaters.

Apex Legends is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
