Although there are countless videos on social media showing “working” skin generators, none of them do what they claim they can do. Most either lead to a dead end or a potential scam. Anyway, they don’t exist, and yet many claim to have found software that works.
That said, one has to wonder how people get their hands on such elusive software. Is it a secret project overseen by Epic Games, or is a higher power sharing forbidden knowledge? This article will explore the world of Fortnite skin generators.
Getting Fortnite skin generators is easier than you might imagine
Getting hold of Fortnite skin generators is a fairly simple task. Although one might imagine that this software is sold on the dark web or talked about in hushed tones, that is far from the truth. Users openly advertise their use of this software on forums such as Reddit.
But unlike the aimbot software for Fortnite that was once openly sold on r/FortniteHacks, there doesn’t seem to be any fixed place to get Fortnite skin generators. While there are a few posts talking about the software, they are mostly scattered across individual accounts and subreddits.
Most of them have lain dormant for a long time, while others have had the thread archived. However, there are a few that are still active. For example, a user named (redacted) posted links for users to get Fortnite skin generators for free. Here is what was written in the post:
“Free free Fortnite skin generator. Generate thousands of free Fortnite skins per day? All devices support our new Fortnite hack tool. We call it Free Fortnite skin generator. Do you know how to get free Fortnite skins? Keep reading and we will show you you how.”
As most readers can tell, that’s a bunch of malarkey. The long description is used to entice and draw in users who will do anything to get free skins. Even the mention of the word “hack” will not be enough to stop those tempted enough to go through the process. That said, unfortunately the link in the post does nothing.
Despite selecting an epic skin and entering the username as requested, nothing happened. Even after waiting a few minutes, no free skin was sent to the locker. It almost seems like the software isn’t working as intended, doesn’t it.
But luckily there are many more sites that work. Although the name of the website will not be released, here are some screenshots of the process:
Step 1: Ignore security protocols
As readers may have noticed, the website has been flagged and marked as dangerous. The browser, unless allowed manually, will deny users access to the site at any time and will provide reasons for the same. However, it can be bypassed manually. Once that is done, the next page will appear.
Step 2: Choose a skin
Given that the skins shown on the page are unobtainable in-game, this sets the stage for the scam/phishing attempt. Users who see this will have an urge to select a shell and hit the claim button (please don’t).
Step 3: Failed Verification
Once the claim button has been pressed, the site supposedly fails to connect to the user’s Epic Games account. It then sends up random messages asking players to manually verify their account. By pressing the yellow line, users will go to the next page.
Step 4: No Free Shell
When you get to the end of the line and click on the giant black line, a login message should appear asking for personal details. Unfortunately, the browser was redirected to another website. This is where the trail goes cold and the search for working Fortnite skin generators ends.
That said, it’s best not to enter personal information on sites like this or even try to access similar sites. In fact, any site that is associated with Epic Games for collaborations or events will be mentioned on their blog.
