Sky is giving away free TV to customers, and that’s not the best part

Homes subscribing to Sky are in for a few extra treats in the run-up to Christmas, with the satellite TV company offering a range of freebies, including full access to Apple TV+ for six months. This streaming service, which features exclusive award-winning series such as Ted Lasso and feature films including Coda, normally costs £6.99 per month, but anyone with Sky VIP won’t pay a penny until summer 2023.

All customers need to do is go to the My Sky app and redeem their access.

Apple TV+ is just one bonus, but there are plenty more freebies, including a regular-price Sky Store movie. Until December 31, Sky is giving away two classic films with users choosing between Jim Carrey classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas or rom-com royalty Love Actually starring Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Colin Firth

Does that sound tempting? To get the blockbuster, simply go to the Sky Store on your set-top box and download the movie to keep.

Then some extra content will arrive in homes and Sky Showcase will be made available at no extra cost to all Sky TV customers between tomorrow, December 12 and December 27.

This channel not only has a lot of entertainment but will also show movies like Elf, The Polar Express and A Boy Called Christmas along with some top football action and the Cazoo World Darts Competition.

So that’s a big boost for TV users, but there are even more festive freebies for Sky users.

Sky Talk has confirmed that it will offer free calls to UK and international landlines and mobiles for customers all day on December 25, so users can chat without fear of being hit with a big bill.

Those with Sky Mobile contracts also get free data access on Boxing Day and Boxing Day, meaning they can video call and post endless selfies on social media without costing a fortune.

News of these Christmas holidays comes as Sky has just released a blockbuster upgrade to Sky Glass TV.

The update gives those with this connected TV in the living room a big boost to overall picture quality thanks to improvements to something called local dimming. For anyone unaware, local dimming is a technology that can turn off individual areas of pixels so that blacks remain truer and whites appear much brighter.

Along with that boost to the screen, Sky Glass receives a number of other upgrades, including the ability to find the remote via voice search.

If the channel changer has fallen on the side of the sofa, owners will soon be able to shout “Hey heavens, where’s my remote” with this accessory and then make a beep.

Other bonus updates include changes to the playlist menu, Bluetooth connectivity and Sky also adds more personalization so that each member of the family only sees the content that interests them.
